日光岩下有一石洞，是由巨石架起的通風口，稱「古避暑洞」洞內涼爽異常，為旅遊的人拂去疲勞的汗珠。
在「古避暑洞」背後刻著一首詩，「日光岩，石磊磊，環海梯天成玉壘，上有浩浩之天風，下有泱泱之大海。」出自於蔣鼎文之筆，蔣鼎文是蔣介石的同鄉，他在「解決」十九路軍發動的「閩變」以後，躊躅滿志，心情極好，才寫下這篇頗有點文採的銘文。
